The Spaniard has played an important role for the Gunners once again, and Ozil is full of praise for his teammate's performances.
The Spaniard has had another fine season for the Gunners, playing an influential role as they finished third, finishing with an impressive seven goals and 13 assists, in spite of his new deeper role.
Manager Arsene Wenger was forced to move Cazorla into a more central midfield role to accommodate the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in his side, and Ozil has plenty of praise for his teammate.
“Santi’s been very strong,” he told Arsenal Player.
“He’s had to adapt to a new position which he may not have always been used to playing in. I think he’s been excellent this year. We’re very happy to have a player like him in our ranks. He’s very good on the ball, as we all know, and is now very defensively strong too.”
There had been questions over how Wenger would fit all of his stars into a formation that works, but the decision to move the Spaniard into a deeper role proved a masterstroke.
Aside from that, it allowed the more attacking talents in the side to concentrate on the attacking side of their game, with the likes of Ozil allowed to focus on laying on the goals for the forwards.
And the German admits that Cazorla’s quality makes his job easier.
“I think we’ll have lots of enjoyment with him over the years,” he added.
“He’s a creative player and it’s a lot of fun for me to play alongside him. It makes it easier for me too because he sees things that some other players may not. That’s why we’re pleased to have him here.”
