Report: West Ham United agree deal for Pedro Obiang, without Enner Valencia swap

Sampdoria have accepted they will not get the Ecuadorian as part of any deal.

West Ham United have been linked with the signature of Pedro Obiang for some time now, with the Spanish midfielder all set to head over to the Premier League.

However reports yesterday suggested a twist in the transfer talks. Obiang's club Sampdoria were believed to be asking for Enner Valencia as part of any deal, as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

West Ham would be remiss to let the Ecuadorian leave the club this summer, after a decent first campaign in England.

However, reports today claim that the deal is going ahead and that Valencia is staying put.

It is reported by SampNews24 that Pedro Obiang will be on his way to West Ham this summer after a fee was agreed that did not include Valencia in any sort of swap deal.

The fee is said to be in the region of €8.5 million and it will certainly be a positive signing for The Hammers.

Obiang has been compared to Patrick Vieira in the past because of his physique, dynamic playing style and box-to-box midfield play - he is purpose built for the demands and rigours of the Premier League.

So West Ham will hope this news proves to be accurate.
