Report: West Brom sale talks delaying transfers; but Benavente deal will proceed

West Brom - The Hawthorns

The latest West Bromwich Albion transfer news and rumours.

Jeremy Peace's talks over a potential sale of West Brom are delaying the club's transfer business, according to the Daily Mail.

But the Hawthorns outfit will proceed with a reported £3.5 million deal for Real Madrid starlet Cristian Benavente, the Mail claim.

Indeed, 21-year-old Benavente has been described as the 'Peruvian Ronaldinho,' with widespread reports suggesting he is set for a move to West Brom.

Other transfer business is being delayed by Peace's talks over selling the Baggies, however, which could leave Tony Pulis with less time than he would ideally require to get the Midlands side up to scratch ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

West Brom still have plenty of time to get summer recruits in, of course, but the hierarchy will certainly need to sort financial matters out first before Pulis's side can plough on with bigger deals.

Benavente nevertheless looks as though he is on his way to the Hawthorns and could be a player of real talent for the future. But little is known of him on these shores, meaning success isn't necessarily guaranteed.
