The attacking midfielder scored two and setup another for his country.
Manchester United fans have rightly been underwhelmed by their record signing this season. Manchester United spent £59.7 million on the player last summer but since his arrival from Real Madrid he has struggled to be on top form on a regular basis at Old Trafford.
However, it does not seem to have had a detrimental effect on his form with Argentina.
He captained Argentina last night as they took on Bolivia in a warm-up game for the Copa America. With star player Lionel Messi in action for Barcelona in the Champions League final the onus was on the likes of Di Maria and Sergio Aguero to step up to the plate. That they did.
Di Maria got the ball rolling in the 25th minute before the Manchester United man set up the Manchester City man for the third.
Aguero scored again before Di Maria netted a penalty kick to make it five.
It was a performance from the Manchester United superstar that certainly resembled something like hi s best again after what has been a difficult first campaign at the Theatre of Dreams.
He will hope this can be a sign of things to come in England.
Here is some of the best reaction from Manchester United fans on Twitter to his performance...
Captain Di Maria was running riot in 1st half. He's scored & assisted. Should do wonders for his confidence that. #Mufc— The Woodward Smirk (@rapcartel1995) June 7, 2015
Di Maria captain for Argentina tonight, good to see Martino trying to instil some confidence into him.— Sam (@SamCadMUFC) June 6, 2015
Di Maria is the captain here by the way. A good preseason should revive his United career.— Mahershalalhashbaz (@Ohdongo) June 6, 2015
Di Maria as captain. Come on Argentina, Rojo and Di Maria. Maybe Otamendi.— Jake (@MUFCFideo) June 6, 2015
DiMaria at his best when free to roam. Don't think that's what LvG will allow him. Hmmmm #mufc— NateMUFC (@nathanielhyatt) June 7, 2015
Angel Di Maria responding well to captaining Argentina. 2 goals and an assist so far for ADM. #MUFC— Jaydn_MUFC (@JaydnMUFC) June 7, 2015
