Karim Benzema's agent rubbishes Manchester United move talk

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Bernabeu, but that now seems unlikely if his agent is to be believed.

The agent of Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has rubbished any talk of his client leaving the Bernabeu, according to his comments in MARCA.

Reports this week had suggested that the French striker could be set to move to the Premier League with Manchester United, with the Manchester Evening News claiming his agent had met United chief Ed Woodward for talks earlier this week.

However, Benzema's agent has now dismissed those reports, claiming that his agent has no interest in a move from the La Liga giants, suggesting he wants to retire at the club.

"Karim does not want to end his contract with Madrid, he wants to retire at Real Madrid,” said Karim Djaziri in MARCA.

“I haven't met with any club in London. Not with United and not with anyone else. We haven't held talks with anyone other than Real Madrid. He's happy in Madrid. He doesn't want to leave."

The news could come as a big blow to United manager Louis van Gaal, who is thought to be keen to add firepower to his squad after last season.

United were seriously lacking in the striker department last season, with Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao failing to be as prolific as in the past and Wayne Rooney struggling as he was shifted from a forward role into midfield for most of the campaign.

With Falcao leaving Old Trafford, United are expected to bring in a big-name striker this summer, but it may be that they have to look beyond Benzema.
