Callum Robinson 'gutted' after England-Under-20s loss; but has an exciting season ahead

The Aston Villa youngster reacted on Twitter to his side's defeat.

England Under-20s lost 2-1 to the USA on Sunday afternoon, meaning they finished fourth in the Toulon tournament for the second year running.

And the result left Aston Villa youngster Callum Robinson 'gutted' on Twitter after the game.

The 20-year-old admitted his disappointment on social media but was positive about reaching the semi-finals and finishing fourth and is now looking forward to returning home.

There was more joy for Robinson and co the other day when England's Under-20s won 2-0, with Newcastle youngster Rolando Aarons netting and his Aston Villa counterpart registering an assist.

There is nevertheless plenty to look forward to for 20-year-old Robinson next season, as the youngster who spent spells on loan at Preston North End last term has a chance to impress boss Tim Sherwood over a full pre-season.

Even if he won't be in the Villa boss's first-team plans, meanwhile, there will likely be no shortage of lower-league clubs interested in taking him on loan.

Either way, then, Robinson should be in for an exciting campaign ahead - and his participation in the Toulon tournament will have done him no harm at all.
