Indeed, while Manchester United supporters may have been unanimously pleased to have finally sold the midfielder, there were some Everton fans frustrated with the signing, while plenty of Aston Villa supporters were delighted to avoid him!
There were, of course, opposite views. Plenty at Everton will no doubt welcome a 25-year-old who can pass the ball (occasionally forwards) and is hugely admired by boss Roberto Martinez. And plenty at Villa will miss Cleverley, especially after a promising last few weeks on loan with Tim Sherwood's men.
There is also plenty of bitterness from Aston Villa's supporters after the club gave the Manchester United midfielder a chance to resurrect his reputation and were not exactly shown loyalty by Cleverley joining Everton.
The most common feeling on Twitter, however, appeared to be delight... from the Villa fans.
A new chapter is starting for the former Manchester United man at Everton - but he has a lot of work on his hands to change the kind of thoughts and jokes that are now traditionally associated with the Cleverley name:
Can't believe Tom Cleverley signed for Everton, how will I get over it? oh wait a sec...i'm over it #avfc— Scott (@Chicaned02) June 5, 2015
