Wolfsburg star Bas Dost posted an incredible 41% scoring conversion rate throughout the 2014-15 league campaign, a better rate than any other player, including Chelsea’s Diego Costa.
A full Dutch international, Dost had a campaign to remember, scoring a total of 20 goals in all competitions and helping Wolfsburg to a runners-up spot in the Bundesliga.
Yet more remarkable was his ability to decide matches with relatively short supply – topping the European conversion charts with 16 Bundesliga goals from a total of just 39 shots.

With Wolfsburg fairly top-heavy in terms of attacking talent, Dost was restricted to just 17 German top-flight starts over the campaign with the majority of those appearances coming after the New Year.
Both Southampton and Newcastle are in need of bolstering their attacking options this summer, no more so than the Magpies who only found the net 40 times in the Premier League last season.
However, with the Wolves achieving Champions League football next year it would be difficult to see Dost turning his back on Europe’s elite competition, even if he isn’t guaranteed a regular first-team spot.
