According to the Daily Mirror, Everton midfielder James McCarthy is 'seeking urgent talks' with the club after signing Tom Cleverley.
The Toffees confirmed on their official website on Friday that midfielder Cleverley would be arriving on a free transfer from Manchester United this summer, penning a five year deal at Goodison Park when the transfer window re-opens in July.
The 25-year-old will reunite with his former Wigan boss Roberto Martinez on Merseyside, but it seems that not everyone is happy with Cleverley's arrival.
The Mirror believe that McCarthy is demanding urgent talks with the Everton hierarchy over his contract given that Cleverley will allegedly be earning more than him when he completes his move this summer.
Irish international McCarthy, 24, was recently linked with a move to Tottenham by the Daily Mirror, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to strengthen his squad at White Hart Lane ahead of another top four push next term.
McCarthy's desire to earn a new and improved contract at Goodison Park could open the door for a potential move away, with Manchester City also allegedly wanting to sign the former Hamilton Academical star.
Everton will surely want to keep McCarthy at the club, but may now have to fork out more money in order to have both Cleverley and McCarthy at the club next season.
