Newcastle striker Ayoze Perez has commented on his debut season at the club.
Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has told the club's official website that his first season on Tyneside has been 'unforgettable'.
Perez, 21, joined Newcastle from Spanish side Tenerife last summer, and was initially signed as one for the future given his lack of experience.
However, the forward emerged as one of Newcastle's few shining lights in an otherwise dismal season at St. James' Park, scoring seven goals in 36 Premier League appearances.
Perez figures to be a building block for Newcastle as they look to overhaul their squad this summer, with the youngster having a bright future ahead of him.
Now, Perez has been reflecting on his first season in the North East, telling the Newcastle official website that his move to the club was a 'dream come true', whilst saying it was 'unforgettable' season despite the Magpies only achieving Premier League survival on the final day of the season with a 2-0 win over West Ham United.
"For me, playing in the Premier League was a dream since I was a child and Newcastle United has given me the chance to make this dream come true," said Perez. "It has been an unforgettable year and I hope it's just the beginning of something big here in Newcastle."
With a new manager and a raft of new signings expected, Perez will be hoping to prove himself again next season, where fans will expect a much better showing from Newcastle - and if they are to live up to fans' expectations, Perez is bound to play a key role.
