John Hartson has suggested on Kicca.com that Arsenal should sign Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli in the summer transfer window.
Higuain is one of the best strikers in Europe and has been in superb form for Italian club Napoli for the past two seasons.
Former Arsenal striker Hartson believes that signing the Argentina international star would make Arsene Wenger’s side a major contender for the Premier League title next season.
“Arsenal must aim high and sign Gonzalo Higuain for next season’s title challenge,” the former Celtic and Wales international wrote on Kicca.com.
“I believe Arsene must break the bank and spend big if they are to go on and compete for the Premier League title after their excellent FA Cup win…
“Napoli’s Higuain is one name that comes to mind. He’s the kind of big name player Arsenal’s main rivals - including Chelsea and Manchester United - will be looking to sign.
“The club will be battling on all fronts next season so they will need three top class strikers anyway.”
Higuain joined Napoli from Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 and has been in excellent form.
Although there have been times when the 27-year-old has gone through a barren spell, his record in Italy is truly praiseworthy.
In the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign, Higuain scored 18 goals and created 48 chances in 37 Serie A appearances.
The Argentine had a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 58%, and won 23 headers, 31 dribbles and 18 tackles.
Higuain found the target 17 times and created 25 chances in 32 league matches in the 2013-14 season, and had a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 55%.
