Danny Welbeck: Andros Townsend is 'definitely' the least intelligent member of the England squad

The Arsenal star joked that the Tottenham man is England's least intelligent '100 per cent.'

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has joked that Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend is 'definitely' England's least intelligent player, according to Sky Sports.

Both Welbeck and Everton defender Phil Jagielka took part in a Q & A about their international team-mates and made some interesting revelations.

And none topped the Arsenal man's assertion that Tottenham winger Townsend is up there '100 per cent' when it comes to England's not-so-brainiest

Indeed, he told Soccer AM of the 23-year-old Spurs star when asked about the least intelligent player: "Andros Townsend! He's definitely up there 100 per cent."

Elsewhere, though, Jagielka made some intriguing comments, suggesting Arsenal's Welbeck is England's quickest player over a distance - faster than Liverpool's Raheem Sterling.

Over a shorter distance, though, the Everton defender backs the 20-year-old.

Jagielka said: "Over a short distance I think Raheem, he probably takes that but over a long one you're probably looking at Welbs. Once he opens up he's pretty impossible to catch."

Meanwhile, Jagielka heaped praise on another Liverpool player in Adam Lallana, suggesting he is England's most skilful star.

The centre-back added: "I'd probably give it to Ads to be honest. He's got great feet, both left and right foot, technically and skilful, he's very good."

Welbeck, Sterling and Lallana may well have watched with a smile, then, which is more than can be said for Tottenham's Townsend!

What could the Spurs man have in store for his Arsenal counterpart when it comes to revenge...?
