Leeds United are reportedly very active as they look for new signings.
Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler will be working hard looking at ways he can improve the calibre, talent and experience running through his squad ahead of the new season.
He will be under pressure to get the club into a position where they are competing for a place in the top six of the Championship and the team’s chances of doing that will be better with some fresh faces.
Here are five of the best players linked with signing for Leeds United over the past week.
James McClean (Wigan Athletic)
The Belfast Telegraph reported that Leeds United are interested in a potential deal for the Irish winger. He could jump at the chance to move with his current side having just been relegated into League One.
Lee Erwin (Motherwell)
The Daily Mail was one of many sources to report this week that Leeds are apparently closing on a deal for the Motherwell forward. However, he could stay at his current club having been offered a new deal, as reported by the Motherwell website.
Nicky Maynard (Cardiff City)
Leon Wobschall of the Yorkshire Evening Post and Yorkshire Post named Leeds as one of the teams looking at signing Nicky Maynard.
He could be a very good experienced striker signing but whether he offers more than Billy Sharp is debatable.
Birkir Bjarnason (Pescara)
The website of Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the Icelandic midfielder was a potential addition for the middle of Leeds United’s team. However, whether Leeds need another body in that area of the side considering the young talent they have is doubtful.
Joao Meira (Belenenses)
Portuguese news outlet O’Jogo claimed this week that Leeds United have offered a contract to the player as they look for ways to revitalise their squad. With doubt over a potential Sol Bamba return, Rosler has to find an extra body to come into his back four.
