Report: West Ham and Crystal Palace eye ambitious move for Italian international Mattia Destro

The AS Roma striker has recently been on loan at AC Milan and was linked with a £20 million move to Chelsea and Arsenal last year.

West Ham United and Crystal Palace will be two teams hoping to push on next season and stay well clear of the relegation zone. In order to do so additions will likely need to be made at the clubs, including in the striking department.

Now, both teams are being linked with a highly ambitious move for Italian international Mattia Destro.

It is reported by Il Sussidario in Italy that West Ham and Crystal Palace, along with German side VfL Wolfsburg and Italians Fiorentina are keen on the talented attacker.

It is certainly a surprising move. As recently as December The Express were linking him with a £20 million move to Arsenal or Chelsea. Now he is potentially a target for mid-rank Premier League teams instead.

The reasons are obvious, his form.

He left Roma for a loan spell at AC Milan in January but his form was not good enough to warrant a permanent deal with the Rossoneri, who have let him go.

So despite eight caps and one goal for Italy, as well as 29 goals in 69 games for Roma, he looks to be an available option this summer.

Roma are said to be willing to let him go on a season long loan deal and West Ham or Palace would be pulling off a coup if they got him.
