Paul Scholes says Andrea Pirlo will never forget being man-marked by Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung, according to his regular column in the Independent.
The Italian will contest the Champions League final with Juventus against Barcelona on Saturday night but has faced United in the past while at AC Milan.
And, to counter Pirlo's threat, Sir Alex Ferguson used a certain energetic South Korean in Park to man-mark the playmaker.
The Manchester United legend said: "I could have told Pirlo that he was in for a tough time because occasionally the manager told Park to man-mark me during training sessions. I hated it. Park was like a rubber man.
"Everywhere you went, he went too. He could run all day. I used to think of him as the manager’s loyal soldier. Sir Alex would give him precise instructions and he would follow them to the letter. I’m told Pirlo never forgot being marked by Park."
Park later joined Queens Park Rangers but didn't enjoy as much success as he did in his Manchester United days.
Last season, United weren't in the Champions League but will be back in the competition next term should they come through the qualifying rounds under boss Louis van Gaal.
They may come up against Pirlo once more, of course, and it will be interesting to see if anyone in the current Manchester United squad can man mark him in a similar fashion to Park.
And who will be taking care of the Italian on Saturday night? Or will Barcelona not worry about the midfielder and simply concentrate on their own attacking prowess...
