Chelsea legend Gianluca Vialli has claimed Jose Mourinho would know how to get South American star Radamel Falcao back to his best, as the Premier League champions are linked with the striker by the likes of Talksport after his woeful loan season at Manchester United.
Vialli himself was a hotshot in Italy and at Stamford Bridge during his career, scoring 40 times in 78 games before hanging up his boots and trying his hand at management with the Blues, and he told Talksport that Mourinho would make sure the arrival of Falcao would be a massive improvement.
“Knowing how good Mourinho is at getting the best out of his players, and Falcao is an extraordinary striker, they will be even stronger," said the 50-year-old Italian.
“Can he play with or instead of Diego Costa? I don’t know. But definitely the more great players you have in your side, the better.”
Chelsea fans would certainly remember what the Colombian can do at his devastating best, with the striker scoring a superb hat-trick while at Atletico Madrid in the 2012 European Super Cup, helping to crush the Blues 4-1.
That is a far cry from the 29-year-old's form for Manchester United last season, where he scored just 4 times in 30 games, including a goalless run of 12 matches leading up to the end of the campaign.
Nevertheless, there is little doubting his ability, having scored for fun at every club he has played at.
Undoubtedly, the Monaco loanee's serious knee injury last year played a part in the difficulty Falcao experienced at United, but with a proper pre-season under his belt, he could still do a job at the highest level.
Chelsea have need of a striking reinforcements after Didier Drogba's impending second exit from the club, and Falcao may just fit the bill.
