The Tottenham winger believes his teammate can become even greater.
He said: “He's had a fantastic season and hopefully next season he can take it to the next level and help us really achieve something. He has the ability to do even better next season. He has turned into an animal and that will benefit Spurs and England.”
Kane, who along with Townsend progressed through Spurs’ youth academy to first-team, netted an incredible 31 times this season, despite not becoming a first-team regular until November.
He earned international recognition, and scored seconds into his England debut, and was rightfully named Young Player of the Year.
However, having only been a consistent player for one term, there are still doubts about Kane, and the fact that this season may have just been a great run of form.
Yet Townsend believes he will undoubtedly improve, and that is a scary thought for much of the Premier League, with Kane already terrorising defences with his impressive attacking play.
Should he get even better next season, and prove that this term was not merely a great run of form and confidence, Kane is sure to fire Spurs to great heights, as they look to usher in a new era of success at White Hart Lane.
