Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are both interested in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva, according to The Sun.
The British tabloid claim that the 26-year-old Portugal international is looking for a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Silva, whose current contract with Sporting runs until June 2017, is rated at £10 million.
Silva has friends in both camps. The central midfielder is teammates with Southampton defender Jose Fonte at the Portugal national team, and played alongside Eric Dier at Sporting before the English youngster move to Tottenham in the summer of 2014.
“Jose and I have spoken,” The Sun quotes Silva as saying. “Southampton are doing well and his performances speak for themselves.
“It’s the same with Eric. He came through the ranks at Sporting and it’s good to see people you had contact with doing well.”
The Sporting star added: “There’s been a lot of noise this year about my departure. I’ve still got a contract with Sporting and the club has to be respected. But we’ve been waiting for the end of the season and now we’ll see what happens.”
Sporting, who are one of the biggest clubs in Portugal, finished third in the Primeira Liga and won Taca de Portugal this season.
Meanwhile, in the recently concluded 2014-15 Premier League campaign, Tottenham came fifth with 64 points from 38 matches, four points and two places above Southampton.
North London outfit Spurs have already qualified for the group stage of the Europa League, while the Saints will enter the competition at the third qualifying round.
