Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has explained in his column for newspaper AS, why Liverpool star Raheem Sterling will not join Real Madrid this summer.
The Daily Telegraph recently reported the potential of a £45 million offer from Los Blancos for the talented attacker, who seems set to leave Anfield over the course of the summer.
However, Balague feels there is a main reason Rafa Benitez’s side aren’t interested; his behaviour and disciplinary issues away from the pitch.
Sterling’s agent, Aidy Ward, publicly attacked Liverpool, as covered by the Guardian, over the player’s future which created questions over Sterling’s motivation as a top flight player in the Premier League.
Benitez being confirmed as Real Madrid’s manager creates a natural link with his old side, but Balague has offered any other interested party the hope that they will be able to get their man.
Real Madrid can’t be blamed for not looking at the option of spending tens of millions on a player, where there are serious questions hanging over his head in relation to the way he’s being represented and the way he wants to develop.
