Report suggests two major stumbling blocks in West Ham’s pursuit of Unai Emery

West Ham

West Ham United are reportedly interested in appointing Unai Emery as their new manager.

West Ham United could lose top managerial target Unai Emery to Napoli, according to The Independent.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that Napoli are ready to make a “superior financial offer than the east London club” to the Sevilla coach.

The Italian club seem determined to get the Spaniard as a replacement for Rafael Benitez, who is now the Real Madrid boss.

The Independent claim that Napoli “want to regain the Champions League status”, and that they could offer Emery around £3 million a year as salary.

It has also been reported that Sevilla want Emery to stay and are ready to make him an improved offer, with contract discussions to get under way.

This means that to hire Emery, West Ham will have to fight off competition from both Napoli and Sevilla.

These two stumbling blocks are something that the Hammers will not want, especially as they will be looking to appoint a successor to Sam Allardyce by the middle of this month.
