Report: Stambouli would prefer Premier League move over Marseille

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder could prefer a move to Watford.

Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli would prefer to stay in the Premier League rather than return to France if he leaves White Hart Lane, according to the Daily Mail.

The French midfielder is the subject of interest from newly promoted Watford, claim the Mail, and recently spoke of his desire to stay in England and with Tottenham.

But the report suggests Stambouli would prefer to stay in the top flight even if he left north London, despite interest from Marseille back in Ligue 1.

That, of course, means Stambouli could potentially be facing Tottenham next season, perhaps in a Watford shirt.

The Mail claim no official Marseille bid has been placed, although that contradicts their own recent information which suggests Spurs have rejected two offers from the French club, one being a loan bid and the other being deemed surplus to their asking price.

Most reports do appear consistent in suggesting that boss Mauricio Pochettino does not see the 24-year-old in his future plans, however, meaning a move to Watford could well be on the cards should he prefer a Premier League stay.
