Report: Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Erik Lamela but Tottenham willing to sell for the right price

Tottenham Hotspur's Argentine international could be heading for the exit if a sufficient bid arrives according to a recent report.

According to the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Erik Lamela this summer but the club would be willing to sell him if they recoup most of the £30million they initially spent on the Argentine.

There are expected to be plenty of ins and outs at White Hart Lane this summer, but while it would be no surprise if Etienne Capoue, Younes Kaboul and Benjamin Stambouli left this summer, Lamela’s exit would generate considerably more discord.

The winger is still only 23 and has plenty of time to grow into the player some fans expect him to ultimately be.

Last season he featured 46 times for Tottenham, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists, and while that is not the kind of return expected of a £30million player he could still come good.

It was always going to take him time to settle and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may be wise to give him one final season to show if he can perform on a consistent basis.

With a contract until the summer of 2018, Tottenham can afford to be patient with the player, but if a big bid does come during the close-season, the latest story claims Levy may be tempted to shake hands on the deal.
