Report: Liverpool will accept £40-50m for Raheem Sterling, six clubs interested

Sterling to United

Manchester United are reported to have offered £25m for the Liverpool winger but that will get knocked back.

The Raheem Sterling transfer saga will turn into a huge bidding war, according to the Daily Mirror, but with Liverpool willing to accept £40-50 million as a good enough offer for the 20-year-old.

Indeed, the Mirror suggest Manchester United are determined to sign the winger and have offered £25m for Sterling after seeing their initial enquiry rebuffed. The suggestion is that Liverpool will also rebuff that bid.

But a bidding war could result, with five other clubs interested in the Reds youngster: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Rafa Benitez's Real Madrid.

And it's when the offers reach £40m that things will get interesting, say the Mirror.

Liverpool will see bids in that region as good enough to let Sterling go but it remains to be seen whether they would be willing to do business with Manchester United under any circumstances.

The Sterling saga is no doubt set to rumble on and this particular theory is an ambitious one in terms of the complexities of it being reported.

Key for the 20-year-old is the fact he wants to return to London - but will that be enough to deter Manchester United's reported interest?
