Keown has in the past spoken of his admiration for Forest's 'incredible achievement' and the Gunners man reaffirmed his respect for the club by picking them ahead of a number of other British champions.
Asked what his favourite European final was, the Arsenal icon responded by discussing the disappointment of the 2007 final between Liverpool and AC Milan.
But Keown was full of praise for Nottingham Forest defending the trophy, a memory that stands out for him as he witnessed it while he was young.
He said during a 'Tackle Keown' session on the Mail website: "As for favourite finals, they are often the ones you remember watching as a kid. Seeing Nottingham Forest win back-to-back titles, which is still one of the most incredible achievements in English football, will always stay with me."
The City Ground outfit started last season brightly but fell away under boss Stuart Pearce. It was a similar story during Freedman's mini-spell at Nottingham Forest after succeeding Pearce, with a strong start fading away.
With time and a full pre-season behind him, however, the former Bolton and Crystal Palace boss will be thinking of promotion.
