HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Inverness Caledonian Thistle winger Marley Watkins is set to move to England to join Barnsley.
Watkins is out of contract this summer at Inverness and it is understood that he has turned down the offer of a new deal to move back south of the border.
The 24-year-old has been a revelation for Inverness since joining the Scottish Premiership side from Hereford United in 2013.
Watkins played a key role in Inverness' Scottish Cup success as he scored one goal and created the other in the famous 2-1 victory over Falkirk as Caley celebrated their first major honour.
The skilful midfielder's performances for Inverness have not gone unnoticed, with clubs in Scotland and England expressing an interest in him.
However, Barnsley have moved quickly to secure Watkins' signature, with the player down at Oakwell for talks and a medical on Thursday.
Watkins is expected to sign a two-year deal at Barnsley as Lee Johnson looks to build a side capable of challenging for promotion from League One next season.
