Craziest rumours: Tottenham's price demand, United's dream over attacker

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United feature in an assessment of the craziest rumours currently doing the rounds.

The Premier League season is over and the summer transfer window is edging closer and closer, which means transfer rumours appearing on a daily basis.

We’ve taken a look at some of the craziest rumours currently doing the rounds.

Tottenham’s plans over Erik Lamela

The Daily Mirror has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to make back most of the £30 million they spent when they signed Erik Lamela from Italian side AS Roma.

Lamela does have plenty of talent but if Spurs are looking to play hard ball over the price of the Argentine winger, they could be set for disappointment.

The attacker has struggled to find his best form ever since he moved to Tottenham and that didn’t change when Mauricio Pochettino was confirmed as the club’s manager last summer.

If Tottenham want rid of Lamela, Daniel Levy may have to accept that this is one deal when it’s better to cut losses and just move on the player.

Raheem Sterling to join Manchester United

The Daily Mirror has also reported that Raheem Sterling could be the subject of a £25 million offer from Liverpool’s arch rivals, Manchester United.

Sterling would be a cracking signing for Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, but with Memphis Depay already secured and the obvious aggression between the two clubs, it’s difficult to see this one happening.

It would take a remarkable turn of events, regardless of what Sterling could earn, for him to turn his back on Liverpool and opt for a transfer which only adds to the sense of friction between himself and supporters at Anfield.
