A move for another Manchester City youngster on loan could be a smart piece of business by Celtic this summer.
Celtic have enjoyed a very productive relationship with Manchester City in recent times, with the Bhoys benefitting from loan moves for John Guidetti and Jason Denayer last season and Ronny Deila’s side now securing the permanent signing of Dedryck Boyata.
But could Celtic continue that working relationship with the loan addition of another player who could potentially save Deila a lot of money this summer?
While the double-winners have moved swiftly to replace Denayer in the heart of their defence, there is also work to be done at the opposite end of the field, with Guidetti’s departure meaning Celtic have to sign a new forward to add goals and creativity to their forward line.
They already have Leigh Griffiths and Stefan Scepovic, but that will not be enough as they bid to replicate or possibly even better their success this season. So why not ask for City youngster Jose Pozo on loan?
The 19-year-old is a centre forward who can also operate on either flank if required, while he has scored and created regularly for City at both under-21 level and in the UEFA Youth League.
In one of just four senior appearances for City, he netted in a League Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday and the time could be right for him to go out on loan and show what he can do when played regularly.
He may be young, but Deila has already shown that is no obstacle to success at Celtic Park, while the fact he spent five years in Real Madrid’s youth academy speaks volumes for his undeniable talent.
City rate him very highly indeed and as an impact substitute or another option either up front or in wide positions, Pozo could be the perfect risk-free summer signing for Celtic.
