Rodney Marsh predicts next season’s fortunes of ‘Humpty Dumpty’ Aston Villa

Aston Villa

Former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh does not seem to rate Aston Villa highly.

Former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh has predicted on social networking site Twitter that Aston Villa will finish in the bottom six of the Premier League next season.

Marsh made his prediction following the Villans’ 4-0 defeat to Premier League rivals Arsenal in the final of the FA Cup at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening, while describing them as a “Humpty Dumpty team”.

Tim Sherwood’s side’s performance against the Gunners was hugely disappointing and left much to be desired.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Arsenal had 58% of the possession, took 16 shots of which nine were on target and earned eight corners.

In contrast, the Villans had 42% of the possession, took just two shots of which neither was on target and did not earn a single corner.

Villa are an also-ran in the Premier League and narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship this season.

The Villans finished 17th in the league table with 38 points from as many matches, just three points above the bottom three.

Last season, Villa finished 15th in the standings, while in the 2012-13 campaign they ended up in the same position and 16th in 2011-12.
