Report: West Brom lead race for Andre-Pierre Gignac, face competition from Dynamo Moscow

West Brom - The Hawthorns

West Brom are leading the race to sign Andre-Pierre Gignac, despite interest from West Ham, Newcastle and Tottenham.

According to a report in France Football - quoted by GFN - Andre-Pierre Gignac is deliberating between a move to West Brom or Dynamo Moscow, with the Baggies leading the way.

The French international forward, 29, has been in impressive form for Marseille this season, scoring 23 goals in 39 games, although he is out-of-contract this summer and has opted against staying at the club.

He would make an excellent free signing for any club in search of a consistent goalscorer, and West Brom are just one of many English clubs linked with a summer move for him.

London24 claimed that West Ham, Tottenham, Newcastle and Southampton have all shown an interest in signing the forward, but the latest report indicates that the Baggies are the only team to have submitted a formal contract offer to Gignac.

It is believed the offer is for a three-year contract, worth roughly €5 million per year.

Gignac is known to want to test himself in the Premier League, although if Dynamo make a concrete approach they can far outdo West Brom’s financial offer and that may make the Frenchman choose a move to Russia.

No other English club have yet to appoarch the forward, and it is claimed that the Baggies are frontrunners for the signing of a player who would drastically improve Tony Pulis’s playing squad.
