Micky Quinn has taken to social networking site Twitter to criticise Newcastle United for the way they handled Ryan Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez’s contract situation.
Both Taylor and Gutierrez will leave Newcastle at the end of the month, as they have not been offered new deals.
However, the duo were informed about the decision over the phone by head coach John Carver.
Former Newcastle forward Quinn seems to be annoyed with this, and has made a simple and sarcastic remark on Twitter.
It is indeed quite disappointing the way in which the Newcastle duo were informed about their futures.
While it did not come as a surprise that the Magpies did not offer them new deals, they should have at least made a better effort with the way in which they broke the news to them.
Taylor, who can play as a defender and as a midfielder, joined Newcastle from Wigan Athletic in 2009, while midfielder Gutierrez moved to the Premier League outfit from Spanish club Real Mallorca in 2008.
Interestingly, Gutierrez was the hero for the Magpies on the final day of the recently concluded 2014-15 Premier League campaign.
The 31-year-old scored in the 85th minute of the clash against West Ham United at St. James’ Park.
It was the Magpies’ second goal and saw them win the encounter 2-0 to secure Premier League survival.
