The 20-year-old, who played just 78 minutes of first-team football last season, confirmed that he has spoken to manager Phillip Cocu about gaining more playing time next season and hopes that it will lead to a move to United in the future.
‘’That is something I dream about [playing for Manchester United],’’ said Vloet. ‘’But my focus is now first with PSV and Dutch youth team. Let me first excel there, then the rest will follow.’’
Vloet is set for a big summer in Holland as he looks to prove that he is capable of filling the void left by United-bound attacker Memphis Depay.
He impressed in the Jupiler League last season with Jong PSV – the reserve team – and earned a handful of appearances coming off the bench in the first-team.
In the club’s last game, against ADO Den Haag, he came on with 25 minutes of the match remaining and impressed as the Dutch league champions finished off their season in style, with a 3-2 win over the mid-table side.
The 25-minute cameo was the greatest amount of game time the youngster had seen at first-team level, which points towards him having a much bigger role next season, as long as he continues to improve.
If United are to look at the winger, he will need to showcase his potential in this upcoming season as the Red Devils have several young attack-minded midfielders of their own coming of age.
PSV will be hoping he can replicate Depay’s heroics this season and once again bring the Eredivisie title back to Eindhoven.
