Jamie Carragher clarifies his comments regarding James Milner

Giant Anfield Flag

A former Liverpool player has been speaking about one tipped to arrive at Anfield this summer.

Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to clarify his recent comments regarding James Milner.

The former centre-back was writing on Kicca when he hinted that the Manchester City midfielder could compete with current vice-captain Jordan Henderson for the captains’ armband if he signs for Liverpool this summer.

But those comments generated a considerable amount of headlines and now the former Anfield favourite has moved to confirm exactly what he meant.

“I didn’t say Milner would/should be captain if he signed,” Carragher wrote. “Brendan Rodgers didn’t confirm Jordan Henderson so I think he may be thinking of other options. He (Milner) may be one.”

Milner is out of contract at City this summer and he has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

The 29-year-old would be a brilliant signing for whichever club is lucky enough to bring him in this summer, with his ability on the ball and his work ethic setting him apart from so many of his rivals.

He is exactly the kind of player Liverpool need but he is likely to have a whole host of clubs interested in his signature, so until a deal is confirmed Reds fans would be forgiven for feeling nervous.
