Speaking to La Voix du Nord, Lille’s 25-year-old midfielder Gueye has commented on his future, and admitted that moving to England is something that would please him.
The Senegalese international said: “I have a contract with Lille until 2018. Admittedly, there are contacts and there will be offers. I will have to look at it all and decide what suits me best. [I will] find the offer that will allow me to grow, to allow me to take new steps to be in line with my ambitions.
“Everyone knows that England has a league that attracts me, even if I am not closing the door on going to other leagues.”
These are certainly words that hint at a potential summer transfer to England, and that should please fans of Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham - who have all been linked with Gueye.
He would certainly be a strong signing for any interested club, and the first report claims a fee of €10 million would be enough to sign him.
A highly energetic midfielder, Gueye has developed his game this term from his usual defensive work to include a goal threat, and his box-to-box work rate is something that any top level team desires to possess in the midfield.
Gueye is clearly aware of the interest, and is very keen on a move to England this summer. If any club wants to sign him, it is hard to look past the midfielder rejecting a deal, and for the reported €10 million fee, Gueye will make a great piece of transfer business this summer.
