Report: Port Vale want Newcastle United defender Remie Streete

Remie Streete has been told he can leave Newcastle United on a free transfer.

Port Vale are keen on signing Newcastle United defender Remie Streete, according to a report in the Stoke Sentinel

Streete's contract at Newcastle expires at the end of next month and Vale are said to be keen to bring him to Staffordshire.

The central defender was on loan at Port Vale for a period of this campaign and they were obviously impressed by his showings.

Although the 20-year-old only played three games for Vale he must have caught the eye and the League One side now apparently believe he could be a good long-term addition.

Streete has been looking for regular action for a considerable amount of time and Vale would be able to offer him that.

The Valiants are aiming to break into the top half of the table next term and bringing in Streete would enhance the quality of their defence.

The problem for Vale is that they fear Streete would be looking for too much money. The defender was on a hefty contract at Newcastle and they may not be able to offer him parity in terms of wages.
