Report: Manchester United losing battle to keep David de Gea

Real Madrid are reported to be confident of signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer.

According to Ian Ladyman of the Daily Mail, Real Madrid are now convinced that David de Gea will join them from Manchester United this summer.

The report suggests Madrid have held two meetings over summer transfer policy this week and sources close to the club have confirmed that president Florentino Perez is sure that De Gea will leave Old Trafford for a price-tag in excess of £25million.

De Gea, who has claimed Manchester United's Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons, has been offered a British record deal for a goalkeeper of £200,000-a-week by Manchester United, as per the Daily Mail, but nothing has developed on that front.

The Premier League club are still believed to be doing their utmost to keep the Spain international.

Neil Custis of The Sun shared the following post on Twitter indicating that his sources understand that United have lost the battle to keep their first choice goalkeeper.

If reports are to be believed, Manchester United will lose one of the best goalkeepers in the world and at the age of 24, the club are still unlikely to witness his best years.
