Report: Celtic want Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard on loan

Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard is reportedly on the radar of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila wants to sign Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

Odegaard moved to Spanish giants Madrid from Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset in the January transfer window.

The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is rated as one of the best young players in the world and is claimed to have a bright future.

Already a full Norway international, the teenager made his first-team debut for Madrid against Getafe on the final weekend of the recently concluded 2014-15 La Liga campaign, becoming the club’s youngest ever debutant for Los Blancos in the process.

Odegaard is unlikely to play regularly for the Madrid first team next season, and it has now been reported by The Sun that Deila wants to sign his Norwegian compatriot on loan for the 2015-16 campaign.

The British tabloid claim that the Celtic boss “chatted with the youngster on Sunday while the duo were on a return visit to Dramman to watch former club Stromsgodset play Lillestrom at their Marienlyst home.”

It has also been reported that Odegaard's father and advisor Hans was at the game which Stromsgodset won 2-0.
