Paul McGrath’s tweet sums up current standard of Aston Villa

Aston Villa narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League and reached the final of the FA Cup this season.

Aston Villa’s 2014-15 season ended on a disappointing note, as they failed to win the FA Cup.

The Villans did well to reach the final of the prestigious competition, but they went down 4-0 to Arsenal at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.

Tim Sherwood’s side’s performance against their Premier League rivals was disappointing and left much to be desired.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Arsenal had 58% of the possession, took 16 shots of which nine were on target and earned eight corners.

In contrast, the Villans had 42% of the possession, took just two shots of which neither was on target and did not earn a single corner.

Former Villa defender Paul McGrath was following the match, and a day after the defeat, he posted a tweet which sums up the current standard of the club.

Villa are an also-ran in the Premier League and narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship this season.

The Villans finished 17th in the league table with 38 points from as many matches, just three points above the bottom three.

Last season, Villa finished 15th in the standings, while in the 2012-13 campaign they ended up in the same position and 16th in 2011-12.
