Celtic confirmed the arrival of Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata on their official website today, with the Belgian penning a four-year deal with the Bhoys today.
Boyata, 24, has featured just six times for City this season and is clearly eager to play first team football at this stage of his career, and now makes the same move his compatriot and City team mate Jason Denayer made a year ago.
In fact, Boyata will almost certainly be replacing Denayer, with the latter set to return to the Etihad Stadium at the end of his loan deal this summer.
Manager Ronny Deila is therefore moving quickly to bring in a replacement for Denayer, snapping Boyata up on a permanent deal until 2019.
Fans have been reacting on Twitter to Celtic's latest signing throughout the day, and whilst there have been some negative comments, Boyata's arrival has largely been met with approval by Bhoys fans.
Many see him as an ideal replacement for Denayer, with some even likening him to former Celtic hero Bobo Balde - though others compared him to current Bhoys defender Efe Ambrose, and not in a good way.
Ultimately, fans may have to wait until they see Boyata play before making a true judgement on the player, but that didn't stop Celtic supporters airing their views on the signing on Twitter today.
Here are some of the reactions from Celtic fans after Boyata's arrival in Glasgow today...
Not too confident about this Boyata but we'll see how he gets on.— Ryan Gibson (@ryanstormm) June 2, 2015
If Boyata can be as good as Denayer then we're on to a winner seeing as we have him for 4.— Bruce (@GeneralBawbag) June 2, 2015
Dedryck Boyata should be an interesting signing, if he's in any way like Denayer, we're lucky— fęrgüš (@freggu) June 2, 2015
Good to see Ronny move quickly to replace Jason Denayer with another young defender from Man City. Think Boyata will be a sound investment— Duncan Peter (@Shuggy80) June 2, 2015
Happy with boyata being signed. Anyone with premiership expercience should be more than capable for spl. Europe will be his test— Dominic Slattery (@dom_hailhail) June 2, 2015
Hope Boyata can keep his head at Celtic. Obviously had a lot of talent, maybe Ronny is the man to get the most out of him.— Calum Stewart (@calstew88) June 2, 2015
