Sunderland are still searching for their next permanent manager.
Sunderland’s hunt for a new manager goes on following Dick Advocaat’s decision not to stay on at the Stadium of Light after keeping the club in the Premier League.
There is a new favourite on the betting market for the role, with current Burnley boss Sean Dyche the popular choice at odds of 5/4.
That will be a difficult deal for the Black Cats to do because Dyche may feel he’s got unfinished business with his current club, plus Burnley will more than likely require compensation.
Sam Allardyce is the second favourite at 5/2 and will be an easier manager for the club to go after.
Allardyce arguably has the right sort of experience that the Black Cats should be looking for and he’s definitely someone who can get the team into a good position, consolidating them around mid-table in the top flight.
Former Derby County manager Steve McClaren remains an outside bet at 11/1 with the odds shortening on Philipp Cocu.
This is a major decision which Sunderland need to get right as they look to prevent the struggles of last season repeating themselves.
