A player linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur will instead remain in Spain.
Spanish side Sevilla have confirmed that they have signed alleged Tottenham Hotspur target Michael Krohn-Dehli on a free transfer.
The news was announced on Sevilla’s official website on Monday morning, and follows claims from newspaper AS that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had identified Krohn-Dehli as an ideal summer addition at White Hart Lane.
The 31-year-old’s contract at Celta Vigo expired this summer and there would have been no shortage of potential suitors, but the Dane has opted to remain in La Liga, signing a two-year deal with an option of an extension.
This season the player has been sensational form for Celta, recovering the ball more than any other player in Spain’s top flight and looking every inch the kind of player who would significantly improve Tottenham’s squad.
But that is not to be, with the player instead heading to Sevilla and Pochettino left searching for new recruits who can not only supplement his promising young squad but also help fire them back into the top four and towards trophy success once again.
