Report: Sherwood 'willing' to sell Baker, Hutton and Richardson this summer

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood appears to be planning a clearout this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Tim Sherwood is ready to reshape his Aston Villa squad this summer by letting Nathan Baker, Alan Hutton and Kieran Richardson.

Villa achieved survival under former Tottenham boss Sherwood, but suffered humiliation in the FA Cup final on Saturday with a 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Now, Sherwood will be looking to build his own squad at Villa Park in a bid to push Villa away from another relegation battle, and it seems that a number of players are being prepared for the chopping block this summer.

The likes of Brad Guzan, Shay Given, Matt Lowton, Philippe Senderos, Aly Cissokho, Joe Cole, Carles Gil and Andreas Weimann are on Sherwood's list of potential exits this summer according to The Telegraph, whilst three players have also been added to the list.

They report that Sherwood is 'willing' to sell centre back Baker, left back Richardson and right back Hutton as he looks to retool his defence ahead of next season.

With six defenders potentially leaving in Lowton, Senderos, Cissokho, Baker, Richardson and Hutton, Sherwood must be confident that he can land a number of defenders to replace them this summer.

After a poor defensive showing against Arsenal - and of course the 6-1 defeat at Southampton last month - it's no surprise that Sherwood would want to improve his options at the back; but few could have predicted such a full-scale overhaul.
