Report: Nottingham Forest to announce first summer signing imminently

Forest City Ground

Matt Mills and Niki Maenpaa are reportedly on the radar of Championship outfit Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest are close to making their first signing of the summer transfer window, according to The Nottingham Post.

It has been reported that Forest are in talks with two players, defender Matt Mills and goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa.

The Championship club will reportedly hold a meeting with Bolton Wanderers’ Mills today, while representatives of Maenpaa are also expected to hold talks today.

Mills is technically still on the books of Bolton, but he will become a free agent at the end of this month.

This means that Forest will not have to pay any transfer fee for the 28-year-old centre-back, who has worked with Reds manager Dougie Freedman at Bolton.

The Reds will not have to pay any transfer fee for Finland international goalkeeper Maenpaa either, as the 30-year-old is out of contract at VVV-Venlo.

Forest finished 14th in the recently concluded 2014-15 Championship season with 59 points from 46 matches.
