Michael Owen’s response on Twitter to ex-Sunderland midfielder’s comment about Newcastle managerial candidate

Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira is reportedly a candidate for the Newcastle United managerial job.

Michael Owen has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his take on reports that Patrick Vieira is a candidate for the Newcastle United managerial job.

According to Sky Sports, former Arsenal midfielder Vieira will hold talks with Newcastle this week.

The former France international midfielder is on the staff at Manchester City as an elite development coach at the moment, but his current contract runs out this summer.

Owen, a former Newcastle striker, believes that appointing Vieira would be a risk, but it could eventually pay off.

In response to former Sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison’s tweet to him regarding the matter, the former Manchester United and Liverpool striker stated the following:

Vieira has experience of coaching at youth level, but it could be too soon for him to take charge of as big a club as Newcastle.

What the Magpies need at the moment is someone with previous experience of managing a Premier League club.
