German legend Franz Beckenbauer told Sky Sports Germany, as quoted by Football Italia, that Jurgen Klopp will be managing in the South of Italy next season with Napoli.
The former World Cup winner was asked where he thought the popular manager would end up, and he gave a surprise answer in Napoli who, like Liverpool, missed out on Champions League football for next season.
Talking in front of the Sky Sports cameras, the legendary centre back said: ‘’Next season Klopp will be training in the South of Italy, at Napoli.’’
Where would Klopp be better placed – Napoli or Liverpool?
If Napoli had finished in a Champions League place in Serie A, the predication by the German would have been reasonable, especially as Rafael Benitez will leave and is expected to take over the Real Madrid job, as reported by the Guardian.
However, as Napoli and Liverpool will both be without Champions League football next season, both are on a level playing field when it comes to courting the former Borussia Dortmund manager.
On Monday, the Mail reported that the German would be taking a break from football, but if Brendan Rodgers continues to disappoint in the role then it could be only a matter of time before an approach is made.
Both Liverpool and Napoli are big clubs in their respective countries. However, with the Reds’ history and reputation around the world, if Rodgers were to move on then Klopp would certainly be a viable option.
