West Brom are looking to sign players who ‘excite’ this summer.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Baggies coach Dave Kemp has admitted that Tony Pulis is targeting players who ‘excite’ this summer, following the arrival of Callum McManaman in January.
Kemp said: “The fans are excited and we are excited by him [McManaman]. We want some more players like that so that we have that threat. We haven’t had that kind of player and hopefully next season we will.”
These are certainly pleasing words from Kemp, with Baggies fans knowing that they can expect some good signings this summer after a couple of years in which there has been little to shout about.
Although McManaman has played little since his transfer, he is the kind of player who can create something out of nothing, and revitalise a team who have been struggling for too long.
That kind of creative midfielder is at an absence in the current West Brom squad, and it appears as if Pulis will be looking to sign players like that again this year.
With a full pre-season in charge, he is sure to undergo a complete overhaul of his playing squad, and make sure that the Baggies start the next season with the best team possible.
As per the same report, the Midlands club have been linked to the likes of Bakary Sako, Michail Antonio and Matt Phillips - all creative wingers - whilst Peter Crouch is reportedly a transfer target to bring goals to the club.
It is clear that improving the attacking output of his squad is one of Pulis’s main aims, and his transfer targets certainly bring a lot of excitement. It is now just down the club to actually sign these targets if they want to enjoy a promising campaign next season.
