Tottenham starlet Harry Winks says he has learnt from Ryan Mason.

Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks has told the club's official Twitter account that he has enjoyed being around the first team - noting particular help from Ryan Mason.

Spurs finished their Premier League campaign last weekend with a 1-0 win over Everton, but have this week been on the road for games billed as 'post-season friendlies'.

In midweek it was a Malaysia XI that took on Mauricio Pochettino's men, before Spurs moved on to face Sydney FC in Australia on Saturday morning.

Tottenham won that game 1-0 thanks to a Harry Kane goal, just days after beating the Malaysia XI with two Kane goals - and Pochettino has handed playing time to some young players in the two fixtures.

19-year-old midfielder Winks started against Malaysia before coming on as a substitute against Sydney, continuing his development under Pochettino.

Winks is highly regarded at White Hart Lane, and will be looking to impress Pochettino enough to earn a place in the first team squad next season - just as Ryan Mason did.

Mason became a regular this season having come up through the ranks at Spurs, and Winks admitted that he has learnt a lot from the England international during his time around the first team squad.

Mason has gone from a forgotten man at Spurs to being a player for youngsters to look up to - all in the space of a year. That will certainly give Winks confidence that he can follow in Mason's footsteps in the near future as Tottenham build a young side under Pochettino.
