A player linked with a summer move to Manchester United has been in talks with the La Liga giants.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, as Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his midfield with top quality additions, but Gundogan could be heading to Spain.
When asked if he was in talks with Barcelona, the German international said, “We are holding talks, yes, but no decision has been made. I can’t say more than that on this.”
The 24-year-old is out of contract at Dortmund in just over 12 months and there are likely to be plenty of clubs interested in his services.
United could really benefit from Gundogan’s presence in their team, with midfield one of the key areas van Gaal will need to improve if he wants to challenge for silverware both domestically and in Europe next year.
Michael Carrick’s injury absences this season showed just how much United suffer without him but Gundogan’s arrival would change all that and they could develop a wonderful partnership over time.
But with Barcelona now confirmed as not only interested but already opening a dialogue, it remains to be seen if United will ultimately get their man.
