The Hull City striker is likely to leave the KC Stadium regardless this summer following the Tigers’ failure to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Standing at just over 6ft, the Senegalese international is strong in the air and impressively agile, proving his Premier League credentials with five goals in 15 games after joining Hull only last winter.
Villa boss Tim Sherwood knows he will find it tough to retain Benteke, and arguably his biggest job this summer will be to find a player capable of providing the goals in his absence.
“Aston Villa are considering a move for Hull striker Dame N’Doye as a replacement for Christian Benteke. Tim Sherwood will have limited funds to spend on his Villa squad in the close season and views as N’Doye a shrewd buy if Benteke departs,” the report states.
Despite Villa’s good late-season form and ensuing FA Cup final appearance, Benteke stood out as the club’s leading player with a total of 13 goals in 26 Premier League starts.
The former Genk man is ready to take the next step in his career, and the Mirror goes on to say that Liverpool are desperate to sign him, with the Reds in dire need of extra firepower upfront.
However, if Villa are to make N’Doye their number one summer target they will have to make their move quickly, as the report also cites North East duo Sunderland and Newcastle as fellow suitors.
