Patrick Vieira linked with Newcastle manager job, Magpies fans react on Twitter

Patrick Vieira will reportedly hold talks over becoming the next Newcastle manager.

Newcastle United are set to hold talks with Manchester City reserve team boss Patrick Vieira this week, according to Sky Sports.

The Magpies achieved Premier League survival a week ago after a 2-0 home win against West Ham United, but will now be on the lookout for a new manager after seeing John Carver struggle during his interim spell in charge of the club.

A surprise name in the frame appears to be former Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, who is currently in charge of the Manchester City reserve team.

The Frenchman is highly regarded at the Etihad Stadium, but would be a shock candidate for Newcastle considering his lack of experience as a Premier League boss.

Sky Sports believe that Vieira will hold talks with the Newcastle hierarchy this week, meaning he is certainly a prime candidate to take the reins at St. James' Park.

Newcastle fans are desperate to see a turn in fortunes after another dismal fortunes, and many of the supporters took to Twitter to praise the idea of hiring Vieira as their new boss.

Some were slightly more sceptical of the idea, suggesting that his lack of experience could be an issue given the lack of talent in the Newcastle squad right now.
