Micah Richards offers Shay Given support on Twitter after FA Cup final

A 'sorry' Shay Given took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to apologise to Aston Villa supporters after their 4-0 drubbing at Arsenal's hands during the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

The veteran goalkeeper played in between the sticks as his side conceded goal after goal against the Gunners - and it wasn't one of the best days of the Aston Villa man's career...

But Given's former team-mate at Manchester City, Micah Richards, offered the Irishman support on social media, suggesting he made some 'good stops.'

What is perhaps most intriguing is a look at Alexis Sanchez's sensational second goal against Aston Villa.

Many believe Given had no chance to stop the Chilean's swerving shot but some on social media have had their say that he should have done better.

But that perhaps sums Villa's FA Cup final up: even though they were very poor, the opposition look as though they would have outclassed them at their best anyway.

A busy summer likely awaits for Tim Sherwood's men in the Midlands, while Arsenal will no doubt need to strengthen themselves if they want to have any chance at all of challenging for the Premier League title.
